What does it look like at its best?

The Standard of Excellence is not a list of rules. Rules are "don'ts." The Standard is the studio's answer to one question: what does each block look like when we're showing up to it the way we want to be remembered for? Six posters. Co-created Week 1. Refined Week 4. Final form Week 6. On the walls all year.

01

The framework

Every Standard of Excellence poster answers four prompts:

SOUND

What does excellent [block] sound like? (Volume, kinds of conversation, silence patterns.)

LOOK

What does it look like? (Bodies, materials, eye lines, posture.)

FEEL

What does it feel like? (For the learners, for the guide, for anyone walking in.)

SIGN

What's the sign we're doing it right? (The thing we notice afterward that tells us we nailed it.)

The six posters

These are the six blocks that get Standard of Excellence posters. Each one is templated below — populate via co-creation with the studio in Week 1, refine in Week 4, finalize in Week 6.

Math Time

SOUND: Lorem ipsum — quiet focus, occasional whispered help between peers, the soft sound of pencils and clicks. Music is in some learners' headphones, not the room.

LOOK: Lorem ipsum — heads down, PWG out on desks, screens on math, no phones visible.

FEEL: Lorem ipsum — calm intensity, productive, like time passes faster than expected.

SIGN: Lorem ipsum — we finish more than we planned to.

Town Hall

SOUND: Lorem ipsum — one voice at a time, build-on language ("yes, and..."), thoughtful pauses, never side conversations.

Snack & Lunch

How posters get used

// during the year

Living the Standard

When a block starts and the studio is off-rhythm, the Excellence Leader points to the poster. Not punitively — as a quiet "remember." When a block ends well, someone calls out the Standard during Character Callouts: "I want to call out the whole studio for how Math Time sounded today — like the poster." The posters are alive when learners cite them unprompted.

04

Possible additional posters

For future quests or as the studio matures, consider adding posters for:

Lorem ipsum — keep the total under 10 posters at any time. Too many and the walls become noise.
