For the next guide.
This is a working companion built so that whoever runs D2 next — next year, in five years, in ten — can pick it up and run BTT without starting from scratch. It's not a script. It's a scaffold. The activities, schedules, roles, and rituals are all here. What you bring is the warmth, the judgment, and the relationships. The rest is plug-and-play.
01
How to use this site
Start at Home. The schedule is front and center because the schedule is the spine of everything.
Walk through Week 1 Day 1 in full. That page is the gold standard of what a fully-detailed day looks like. Every other day eventually grows toward that level of detail.
Browse the resource pages. The Leadership Roles, Standard of Excellence, and Studio Contract pages are ready to use.
Use the skeleton day pages as templates. Each day page for Weeks 2–6 has the right structure with Lorem Ipsum placeholders. Fill them in as you teach the week — or before, if you have time.
Treat this as v1. Every studio is different. Edit. Add. Reorder. The framework is meant to be customized.
02
The thesis (one more time)
If you remember one thing: BTT is the year, taught slowly. Run the real schedule from Day 1. Model everything. Hold the cutoffs. Be warm. The seeds you plant in these 6 weeks decide what's possible the rest of the year.
03
For future quests
This framework is designed to be reusable. To adapt it for the next quest:
Keep the daily schedule. The skeleton of the day (Morning Launch, Math, ELA, Town Hall/Share Chair on their days, Quest, Maintenance, Callouts, Reflection) holds across all quests. Only Quest content changes block-to-block.
Keep the weekly rituals. Town Hall, Share Chair, ICEE, 360 — all stay.
Keep the documents. Studio Contract, Rules of Engagement, Studio Manual, Standard of Excellence persist across the year. They evolve via Town Hall, not by being rebuilt.
Swap Quest content. Replace the BTT Quest activities with the next quest's content. The infrastructure remains.
Adjust the 6-week arc. Use the same Hero's Journey spine but reframe the weekly questions for the new quest's theme.
Lorem ipsum — for each new quest, duplicate the week-N.html and week-N-day-N.html files into a new folder, rename, and fill in. The CSS and shared resources don't need to change.
04
Hosting on Netlify
This site is fully static — HTML, CSS, no build step required. To deploy on Netlify:
Drag the d2-btt-guide folder into Netlify's deploy interface (or connect via Git).
Set the publish directory to the root of the folder.
No build command needed.
Configure a custom domain if desired.
To edit: open any .html file in a text editor (VS Code recommended). Lorem Ipsum placeholders are clearly marked with dashed amber borders and "// PLACEHOLDER · EDIT THIS" labels.
05
Credits & design system
Visual design follows the jmineo.com brand system v1.0 — warm paper, hard ink borders, hard-shadow cards, marker underlines, lab-notebook texture. Fonts are Fraunces (display), Space Grotesk (body), and JetBrains Mono (labels/data).
Architected by Jordan Mineo, D2 Program Director at Acton Academy Silicon Valley, 25–26 school year.
